Kingfisher Lake, Newport Pagnell.

Syndicate Information

It's been a long and difficult year at Kingfisher. The weed, the flooding, the weather, the lack of power has all caused issues at some point but as a Syndicate we have got through it. We haven’t been able to secure power up until now, but we are now a whisker away from breaking ground on a power connection after long and protracted discussion with National Grid.

We are also close to completing the soak away field for the flushing toilet.

The lake itself looks better and we have stabilised a higher water level on the lake.

We have continued dying the lake throughout winter to assist in the reduction in weed alongside the hiring of aweed cutting firm to clear a monstrous amount of weed from the lake!

Car Parks seem to function well, and we have added a further car park by the top gate.

The site continues to offer a safe and secure environment.

Importantly, we have kept the otters at bay and the bird life has returned to the lake (some unwanted … for which we now have a culling licence).

We have continuously added fish of a very high standard and size for members.

There are now well over 130 fish, with a dozen or so in the mid 20s, half a dozen in the mid 30’s.

The lake also contains native pike, crucian, tench, perch and roach.

Membership fees for 2024/25.

Membership runs for 12 months from date of joining.

Annual membership will be £600 for new members.

The intention is to have the toilet and power up and running but there will be no increase when they are.

The Rules

The primary goal is stillwelfare of the fish.

1. Fish care is paramount. Without the fish, there's no fishing. Look after your catches!

2. No personal nets, slings or cradles. Kingfisher management will provide this equipment. This is primarily to protect fish health. Cradles must be used when handling fish out of the water.

3. All fish catches to be weighed, photographed (both sides) and returned in the minimum time. Photographs to be uploaded to Swimbooker but of course you can share them on social media as well. We do this to monitor fish growth and fish health and is not optional.

4. Any marks, cut, sores etc should be treated with a recognised treatment (such as Propolis) before returning the fish to the lake. The Management may from time to time provide additional treatments and notices but generally as a carp angler, you will be expected to carry the necessary treatment yourself.

5. NO fish to be removed or added to the lake. This will lead to instant removal and expulsion from the Syndicate without refund.

6. Any serious concerns about fish health are to be raised at the earliest opportunity with the Management.

7. Gates must be closed and locked behind you. No open gates! Otters are tricky little things, and they don't need any opportunities to get to the fish!

8. No rubbish of any sort to be left on site. Please take it home with you.

9. No braided main line on baited rods.

10. No carp sacking to take place. See point 1!

11. No lead core to be used and Rigmarol is not allowed.

12. No Nuts as a feed bait.

13. Micro Barbed hooks only.

14. Leave the facilities as you would expect to find them.

15. No weapons such as air rifles, crossbows, shotguns etc. Immediate ban without refundfor anyone reported (and proven to have done this).

16. Heavy drinking is not allowed. Water is dangerous! Angler safety is also important!.

17. No drugs allowed on site.

18. Rods must never be left unattended.

19. Reservation of fishing spots is done using the booking system. You will choose your peg on arrival at the lake. Booking will be done on Swimbooker. This is an evolving platform, and it will improve with time.

20. If unable to attend or plans change, booking must be cancelled at the earliest opportunityto allow others to fish.

21. If leaving the site for more than 3 hours, all kit should be packed and removed from the pegs.

22. As a rule, all booking will be based on a minimum return period not less than the previous booking period. I.e. if you are on for 4 days, you will not be able to book on until 4 days after departure for your next session. Everyone wants a chance to fish!.

23. Members cannot have more than 3 open future bookings.

24. We ALL want peaceful, relaxed fishing (and hopefully a few fish!) so any threatening or anti-social behaviour that is reported will be investigated. This may lead to a permanent or temporary ban without refund!.

25. The Management reserves the right to close the lake for 3 weekends within the 12 months for personal use. 4 weeks notice will be given of any weekend closure to all members.

26. When the river/lake is in flood, the lake will remain closed until time it is deemed safe. The management will use best endeavours to provide direct updates to members as to the condition of the river and flooding.

27. When the lake is frozen, the lake will remain closed. The management will use bestendeavours to provide direct update to members as to the frozen condition of the lake.

28. Driving vehicles around the lake is weather dependent. Common sense must prevail. If you get stuck, you will be responsible for getting yourself unstuck and damage to the surroundings whilst doing so will be viewed unfavourably. The Management will issue clarification if you are unsure.

29. You will report any damaged equipment or facilities that are provided by the lake at the earliest opportunity.

30. By agreeing to become a member, you agree to abide by these rules.

31. The Management’s decision is FINAL

The Future

We have more great things planned for 2024 and 2025. Power is our main (and unbelievably expensive) next improvement. The flushing toilet will be installed shortly too. (there is already a regularly emptied chemical toilet on site). We hope to improve the river swims this year also for those interested. We hope you will see how we have invested our time and money into this venue, and we will continue to run this venue in a similar way. We have brought together a broad community of anglers from near and far and we hope to increase that community feel during the coming season. We look forward to welcoming new members but there are limited spaces. If you need another look around this can be arranged.
